C.M. Harris is an award-winning, bestselling children’s author, disability advocate, and the heart behind What If We Were®. Diagnosed at the age of 7 with Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease and Trigeminal Neuralgia at the age of 22, Harris has turned adversity into a powerful mission to inspire children everywhere.
After facing employment discrimination due to disability bias, Harris forged her own path, founding Purple Diamond Press Inc® to create stories where every child feels seen, valued, and capable of achieving great things. Her debut book What If We Were All The Same! became a national success—featured on ABC7 News, the BBC, and Voyage LA—and was amplified by the San Francisco 49ers, who donated over 2,000 copies to Oakland schools. Over 20,000 copies sold in the first year.
With over 15 years of experience working with children and a deep understanding of the power of representation, Harris uses her platform to teach empathy, diversity, and resilience. Through school visits, motivational talks, and a growing library of inclusive picture books, she empowers young readers to embrace what makes them unique and show kindness to others.
